INSET

We provide INSET and offer input into Initial Teacher Training.

Courses are tailor made, lasting for between half a day and two full days.

We also offer twilight sessions.

IES staff are all practicing Hindus and simultaneously well experienced in Western thought and culture.

They are also familiar with the educational world, and the many challenges faced by RE specialists (and, of course, non-specialists).

In delivering INSET, our four main aims are to provide and explore:

  • Subject knowledge (and insight into the tradition)
  • Stimulating ways to teach about Hinduism
  • Useful books and artefacts (with opportunity to inspect and purchase)
  • Links to your (new) local agreed syllabus.

Courses include a purpose-designed handbook entitled Getting to the Heart of Hinduism: a Comprehensive Guide for Teachers.

Please note: Course provision varies form centre to centre. For more details, please do contact your regional centre or the national office (see right).
